volunteer opportunities

WE CAN USE YOUR BACK, YOUR KNOWLEDGE, YOUR HANDS

Time to lend a hand, extend the value of volunteerism and put some dollars (generated by volunteer hours) into the coffers of Blue Ridge Mountain Trout Unlimited Chapter 696.

Boy Scouts seek TU members for Fly-Fishing instruction, November 13-14

Blue Ridge Mountain TU and other chapters in the Georgia Council have been asked to provide instructors to help participating scouts earn the Fly Fishing merit badge during the Conservation Weekend, Nov 13-14 at Camp Woodruff Scout Camp near Blairsville.

Positions are available at every level of instruction – knowledge, fly-tying, fly-casting and lakeside fly-fishing. Organizers ensure adherence to COVID-19 safety guidelines as prescribed by the Boy Scouts of America. Volunteers should first notify Bob Borgwat, BRMTU’s volunteer coordinator, before registering for the event online at the staff registration link at https://www.campwoodruff.org/conservation.

*Volunteers are reminded to track your service hours for compensation to BRMTU from TU.

You can help TROUT FEST 2022! Volunteer Staff Forming Now

The BLUE RIDGE TROUT & OUTDOOR ADVENTURES FESTIVAL is building its organizational staff and contingent of general volunteers for the event's return on April 30, 2022 to downtown city park in Blue Ridge, Georgia.

TROUT FEST 2022 -- the Official Trout Festival of Georgia -- requires a staff of 10-12 chapter volunteers and 60 general volunteers who use their professional and personal skills to build and execute the event for more than 80 vendors and more than 3,500 visitors across a one-day event. This is BRMTU's largest fundraiser of the year, commonly generating net proceeds of $22,000 to $25,000 for the chapter's education, conservation and community outreach programs.

Interested? Join us!

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Grow your pride -- and do what's right -- in community service.
  • Help build awareness toward cold-water conservation.
  • Feel great about your time spent helping others with your skills.

TROUT FEST funds a long list of local activities that give back to our community in line with the ideals of Trout Unlimited. Come help us out for a few hours, get a free breakfast/lunch and T-shirt, hear some great country music and rock-n-roll, browse the exhibits and enjoy the Official Trout Festival of Georgia in the official Trout Capital of Georgia!
